will be made into a live-action movie!!
xxxHOLiC is a dark fantasy centered around Kimihiro Watanuki, a high-school student who is a magnet for supernatural creatures, and how he becomes involved with Yuko Ichihara, the owner of a mysterious shop that will grant any wish for a price, and the strange happenings that visit along with her customers.
This is the first of CLAMP's works to be adapted into a live-action movie. The director will be one of Japan's top creative minds, world-class photographer Mika Ninagawa. She has been a fan of the series since it was first published, and spent the past 10 years working ardently towards making an adaption. Ryunosuke Kamiki has been picked up to play Kimihiro Watanuki, and Yuko Ichihara will be portrayed by Ko Shibasaki.

Kimihiro Watanuki is a high school student who is a magnet for supernatural creatures drawn to the darkness in people's hearts. One day, while standing atop a building contemplating ending it all, he is led by a beautiful butterfly to a mysterious shop. The shop will grant any wish for a price, and is run by the beautiful and enchanting Yuko.
Watanuki accepts Yuko's offer to live and work at the shop, and becomes involved in many mysterious happenings, growing closer with Domeki, his classmate, and Himawari along the way. As he becomes more comfortable with this new normal, Watanuki searches for what's important to him. Then, as his birthday approaches on April 1, something happens...!!

Mika Ninagawa
Winner of many photography awards, including the Kimura Ihei Award. She has directed films such as "Sakuran" (2007), "Helter Skelter" (2012), "Diner" (2019), and "Ningen Shikkaku" (2019). Her original Netflix drama "Followers" was streamed in 190 countries around the world. She has also participated in many video projects. In 2010 her photobook published by Rizzoli N.Y. gained international popularity. In 2016, she held a large-scale exhibition at MOCA Taipei that set a new record for attendance at that location. Her 2017 "Mika Ninagawa" exhibition in Beijing was her largest. From 2018 through 2021, her exhibit "Mika Ninagawa -Into Fiction / Reality" toured art museums across Japan to positive reviews.
